Drive Level
Drive level is the power level applied to a quartz crystal during oscillation. Drive level is specified in fractions of a watt, micro-watts or milli-watts. Drive level has a direct effect on crystal parameters: frequency, motional capacitance, inductance, resistance, spurious responses, and aging. Good engineering practice is to drive the crystal at the minimum level to initiate and maintain oscillation in the circuit.
